Karaoke Tuner – Autotune Box

Autotune is a software used by almost all major artists (yes, even Michael Jackson used it...). So, when we were offered the chance to work on a mechatronics project related to real-time sound processing, our very first idea was to recreate this famous vocal pitch modification tool!

Recreating a real-time vocal autotune hardware device completely from scratch.

Using a powerful Teensy 4.0 microcontroller capable of real-time audio processing (DSP), we successfully built our own autotune device named 'Karaoke Tuner.' You simply plug a headset into the jack, select the scale music you want to play, and hear your voice pitch-adjusted to the right notes, perfectly in sync with the chosen track! The front panel includes an OLED screen and dual potentiometers for independent music and vocal volume controls.

Utilizing Teensy 4.0 for live sound synthesis, scale snapping, and analog potentiometer mixing.
